Explanation of Enhanced Dental Benefit Plan
The following is a brief explanation of the Enhanced Dental Benefit Plan for IBEW Local 2067/SaskPower employees:
- The Enhanced Plan came into existence as part of the 2015/16 Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- SaskPower provides the Enhanced Plan with a yearly payment equal to 0.2% of annual payroll.
- The Enhanced Plan pays for some dental benefits that either SaskPower does not cover or does not cover in full. The complete list of dental codes that the Enhanced Plan covers can be found at 2024 Maximum Reimbursement Schedules | Plannera Pensions & Benefits (formerly PEBA) by clicking on “Members of IBEW Local 2067”. The SaskPower plan can also be found at the above location.
- There are no additional steps necessary to submit claims to the Enhanced Plan. Canada Life automatically process claims through both the SaskPower and the Enhanced Plan.
Financial
Account balances are updated monthly and presented to the IBEW 2067 Executive Board in their monthly meeting.
Benefits Usage
- The Enhanced Plan provided a total of $170,267.26 in benefit coverage in 2020.
- The Enhanced Plan has provided a total of $161,222.26 in benefit coverage from January 1 – Sept 30 of 2021.
- Since inception of the plan, we have seen enhanced benefits coverage of approximately $719,855.94 for the plan members and their families.
Benefits Improvements
- Over the last few years, the Enhanced Plan has been slowly growing with more items/codes being covered as we obtain usage data.
- Until recently, denied claims were not tracked by Canada Life so there was limited information as to what codes would benefit our members the most.
- Canada Life has the ability now to provide us with a report of denied claims/codes so the Trustee Board is optimistic that this information will help us better determine what items/codes to add to the Enhanced Plan to benefit the most members.
